Who is the contractor on this award?
The obligated recipient is SCIENCE APPLICATIONS INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION.
Which agency awarded this contract?
Awarding agency: National Aeronautics and Space Administration (National Aeronautics and Space Administration).
What is the total obligated amount?
The obligated amount is $1.03 billion.
What is the period of performance?
Start: 2017-07-01. End: 2023-11-30.
What is the breakdown of spending across the various NASA organizations (EED, ISTD, SED, etc.) supported by this contract?
The provided data does not detail the spending allocation across the specific NASA organizations (EED, ISTD, SED, MSD, MESA, JPSS, SSCO). A more granular analysis would require access to task order data or internal NASA reporting to understand how the $1 billion+ has been distributed among these diverse engineering support requirements.
How does the Cost Plus Fixed Fee structure impact the government's risk exposure and the contractor's incentive for cost control on OMES II?
The Cost Plus Fixed Fee (CPFF) structure means the contractor is reimbursed for allowable costs plus a fixed fee representing profit. While the fee is fixed, the government bears the risk of cost overruns. This can incentivize contractors to manage costs efficiently to protect their fee, but it requires strong government oversight to prevent unnecessary expenditures.
What specific new technologies have been developed or validated under OMES II, and what is their projected impact on future space and science missions?
The provided data outlines the contract's purpose to enable the development and validation of new technologies. However, it does not specify which technologies have been developed or their impact. Identifying these would require reviewing specific task orders, project reports, or NASA's technology transfer documentation.
