Official Description: TAS::75 0885::TAS DATABASE SOLUTIONS TO SUPPORT DATA ACQUISITION IN CLINICAL RESEARCH ARE ROUTINELY CALLED CLINICAL DATA MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS (CDMS) AND ARE REQUIRED FOR THE SUCCESS OF CLINICAL RESEARCH PROGRAMS. THE NIAID BEGAN CUSTOM DEVELOPMENT OF A CDMS WHICH IT TITLED CLINICAL AND RESEARCH INFORMATION AND MANAGEMENT SYSTEM OF THE NIAID (CRIMSON) IN 1991 AT A TIME WHEN NO CONSUMER OFF THE SHELF (COTS) PRODUCT MET THE CORE NEEDS. IN THE PAST 15 YEARS CRIMSON HAS GROWN TO INCLUDE DATA FROM APPROXIMATELY 14,000 PATIENTS AND 400 CLINICAL PROTOCOLS. THIS CONTRACT SUPPORTS THE EXISTING SYSTEM AND CONTINUES TO DEVELOP AND ENHANCE IT IN ORDER TO IMPROVE AND ALIGN THE SYSTEM WITH THE REST OF THE EVOLVING NIAID AND NIH ENTERPRISE.
